THE MARSHES – 10km/6mi
The Fucecchio Marshes are one of the most beautiful landscapes of Tuscany and the widest marshes all over Italy.
This protected nature reserve is the ideal place for ornithologists: during the year about 190 species of birds live in the nature reserve, including the stilt plover, the common waxbill and the ferruginous duck.
The marshy region is also an ideal natural habitat for many plants, including carnivorous plants, various species of fern and sphagnum, and so on.
This area can be explored with guided tours.
