SIENA – 110km/70mi

Siena is one of the most livable cities of Italy, cultured and elegant, visited by thousands of tourists every year, who are fascinated by the many testimonies of the past and by the monuments that date back to the Middleages.

From the great scenery of Piazza del Campo, with Mangia Tower, to the imposing mole in black and white stripes of Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral, from the representations of the Virgin Mary by Duccio di Buoninsegna to the patrician palaces, Siena looks like a city out of time, stuck in its glorious history.

Even today, the ancient traditions are still alive and find thier best expression in the Palio, that takes place twice per year (on July 2nd – on August 16th).

Visiting Siena also means to taste its cousine: the “pici”, a kind of pasta like thick spaghetti, the typical cheeses and the pastries, like “ricciarelli” and “panforte” value a visit, without considering the famous wines which are produced on the hills around the city.
