PISA – 45km/28mi

Pisa is known throughout the world for its famous Leaning Tower.

This is located in an immense green lawn, on which three other impressive buildings stand, in gleaming white marble.

These imposing structures are the breathtaking Duomo (Cathedral), the circular Battistero (Baptistery), the Camposanto (Holy Field), without doubt one of the most beautiful Cemeteries in the world, and clearly the Cathedral’s bell tower, better known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

This area is called Campo dei Miracoli or Piazza dei Miracoli ( Miracles’s Square) and it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Pisa is also known for its excellent University, which was established in 1343 and has become one of Italy’s top schools.

A special night…The Candlelight Festivities take place on Arno river on the eve of the patron saint’s feast day, on June 16th.
